Introduction

Business Intelligence (BI) has quickly emerged as a critical capability for many organizations to differentiate themselves from their competitors and improve decision-making processes from operational and strategic perspectives. Indeed, tasks such as process mining, supply chain monitoring, developing key performance indicators, detecting customer churn/tracking, pricing, demand forecasting, capacity planning, and others have become critically important aspects of BI. In recent years, the quantity of business data (e.g., customer transactions, logs, quarterly reports, social media, sales reports, etc.) that could be leveraged for BI has grown substantially. Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled techniques, including deep learning, machine learning, network science, information retrieval, and text mining, could hold significant promise in leveraging these data to enhance or improve existing BI tasks or help facilitate new BI approaches. Consequently, there is growing interest in how modern AI-enabled analytics could be leveraged and adapted for critical BI applications.

This one-day Artificial Intelligence for Business Intelligence (AI4BI) workshop seeks to convene internationally recognized thought leaders to share knowledge about their AI4BI experiences. This AI4BI workshop will feature world-renowned academics with substantial research and education AI4BI experience as well as seasoned industry professionals who have led highly visible and successful multi-year interdisciplinary AI4BI efforts. A key goal of this workshop is to foster discussion and facilitate future AI4BI collaborations. As such, ample time will be provided for discussion and question and answer for the workshop participants. A tentative schedule for the workshop appears below.
